    Diane works part time and teaches at Jinny Beyer Studio in Great Falls, Virginia. She is an award winning-quilter winning for applique and hand quilting. She has even hand quilted a king size quilt for Elly Sienkiewicz which hung in a special exhibit in the Houston Quilt Show in 2011. She also has had one of her quilts (Beauty, Happiness, Family, Love) shown at the Houston Quit Show in 2012.   • English Paper Piecing and Millefiori Wallhanging Workshop

    Millefiori is a kaleidoscopic design made by using English Paper Piecing templates shaped to fussycut fabrics. The fabric is then positioned on papers of the same shape and then whip stitched together to create a rosette. This is a hand piecing class that will help you design and make a rosette for a Millefiori quilt.  Diane will show you how to make the rosette using either acrylic templates to cut your fabric shapes and/or paper templates to shape your fabric around the template using a soluble glue stick. September 27, 2022 - 7 PM Lecture ZOOM AT THE CHURCH “Diamonds are a Quilter’s Best Friends and more” Krista was our Zoom speaker in January 2021 and everyone has been asking for her to come back. She has published more than thirty patterns since 2016 and is the designer of the Creative Grids 60 Degree Diamond Rulers.     Desert Sky is one of our most popular patterns for beginners, The pattern was designed by Judy Niemeyer. A sewing technique called foundation paper piecing is used when sewing the pieces onto the foundation units. Curved piecing and traditional piecing are required to join the units after the foundation piecing is completed.

    During my presentation, I will talk about the techniques of creating and assembling the hundreds of pieces in each diamond, materials I use to create the wash of color and light across a gem’s surface and the quilting techniques that enhance a gem’s facets. I will also share the importance of choosing joy and saying “no” to fear as I made the leap from the Corporate Life to the Creative Life.

  • Mini Gems Workshop with MJ Kinman, Wed. March 29, 2023, 9am – 4pm

    This is a fast-paced workshop where participants will create their own singularly beautiful work of a faceted gem using the single-foundation piecing technique I used to create my own “diamond quilts”. Participants choose one of several pre-selected abstract gem designs based on their skill level. They learn how to chart on freezer paper, code pieces for color, location and position template pieces onto fabric to achieve the desired light effects. Participants leave the class with a small top that can later be quilted as a pillow, table topper, art picture or added on to for a full quilt. Class size is 25 participants. Reminder on
