What's New

NeoNatal Tour
The tour was very informative and showed us just how much our gifts of quilts and funding help. Many of the isolets had
colorful quilts draped over them. We saw one of our quilts going home with a baby and it's family. We talked with a young
father who was so moved by what we do that he had tears in his eyes. Approximately 1,000 babies pass through the unit
every year so we are providing quilts to less than half of them. I wish every guild member could take the tour in the hopes
that we could increase our donations so that every baby got a quilt.

Margaret's Hope Chest
Read all about this wonderful contribution of quilts by the family that lost their Grandmother to a violent crime!
It's a heart touching story.......and at our May Meeting we got to see some of the quilts that our members helped to finish.
What an honor to be a part of this.  Click here to read more!

HELP WANTED!

"Patch of News" Newsletter Editor
I have enjoyed editing the newsletter for the past 2 1/2 years and am happy that I could help out. Unfortunately, personal commitments are taking a lot more of my time and I cannot continue in this job.  Please contact Pat Chapman at 616-984-5049 or me, Karen MacGregor at 340-9631 if you are interested.

Festival of the Arts Chair
Festival of the Arts is over and we now need a new chairperson for 2011. The Festival Committee has gotten very positive comments about our booth and products and would like to see us there again next year. We need someone to step forward to take on this project. The nice thing about it is that it's only once a year; not a continuing commitment. Yes, it takes work, planning and organizing. But you get to work with wonderful, creative guild members in a festive environment.

Julia Volk has done a great job for the last two years but she needs to move on to other projects. She has documented the process and will assist with getting you up and running. Please contact Susan Shantz 458-3736 or susan@otb-arts.com to learn more about this great volunteer opportunity for the guild.

Round Robin Coordinator

Our round robin coordinator, Beth Hoppe, has had to step down because of a change in her work schedule. She has said she will finish the current session and is going to try to make as many meetings as she is able. Round Robins are a great way to meet other members and make friends as well as getting you out of your quilting comfort zone. If no one comes forward to organize the next session we won't have this valuable resource in our guild. If you enjoy participating please consider stepping forward and filling Beth's shoes. She can tell you what's involved and answer any of your questions. Contact Beth Hoppe, Pat Chapman or any board member to get started.

Web Master
Do you enjoy working with computers, feel creative, and want to continue to develop this web site for our Guild?  Then please contact Sandy Harvey to discuss your interest.

The American Quilt Study Group (AQSG), a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history of quilts and quiltmaking, is turning 30! We invite you to join the celebration by participating in a nationwide block challenge called “30s for 30” (see details below). For every 30 blocks received, one person’s name will be drawn to win those blocks. To learn more about AQSG and our annual Seminar, please visit our website at www.americanquiltstudygroup.org. Happy quilting!

30s for 30 QUILT BLOCK CHALLENGE
· Blocks must be 12-1/2” square (to finish to a 12-inch block) and made of either 1930s reproduction fabrics or vintage 1930s fabrics. Fabrics must be 100% cotton. Please prewash/preshrink all fabrics.
· Blocks may be any design and any color combination, in keeping with the 1930s fabrics.
· Send your blocks to the address below, along with a donation of $3 for the first block, and $1 for each block thereafter sent at the same time. Block donations from groups are welcome. Any funds collected in excess of those needed to complete the project will be donated to the AQSG Endowment fund.
